   Church Growth

The Church Growth Board shall be responsible for fostering a welcoming Christian environment, making our church know to people in the community, and facilitating continuous church growth.

Efforts of this board include affording every opportunity for members of the community, particularly newcomers, to become acquainted with our church and its unique setting for spiritual growth and Christian fellowship.

The Growth Board is a very lively and active board. We handle church happenings such as identifying Sunday Worship Greeters, arranging for advertising and publicity, making doorstep visits to those who have visited our church (new visitor tracking), name tags,  and the new member breakfasts.

The Board meets the first Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM.

Annual Report of Church Growth Board May 20, 2007

Growth Board was grateful for the time we were able to spend in retreat with the members of our board as well as a second retreat with the other church boards and officers to determine our future and direction.  The members of the Growth Board have taken their responsibility very seriously.

Last fall it was our pleasure to work with "Grand Junction Equality" to bring in the portrait presentation "Love Makes a Family."  It was also our pleasure to work with Martha Jones and Betty Hall in the dedication of our church Labyrinth.  We participated in the annual "Trunk or Treat" event at Halloween, which is a growing and fun program.

We have, in the last year, re-evaluated our advertising program and we are at the present time advertising in the "Free Press", "The Daily Sentine"l and the "Things To Do" publications, as well as advertising on the Community Public radio station KAFM.  In addition we have brochures going out to every new family in the valley through the Grand Junction Welcoming Service.  During the recent Easter Season, we purchased post cards to be sent out to invite our friends and neighbors to worship with us.

We worked very hard to put together an in depth presentation for our 2007-08 financial budget.  We were thrilled that the church supported this large request for additional funds, and we are now working hard to see that this new program will be implemented to our advantage.  In the future it is our intention to advertise at the Avalon Theater.

We are taking our visitor program very seriously.  We have new guest bags that are handed out to new visitors each Sunday.  In addition we have purchased new pens with our name on them to be handed out freely to spread our name.

Respectfully submitted
Donna Hochmuth, Church Growth Board Chair
