Annual Report of Church Directory Committee May 22, 2005
First,
thanks to the First Congregational Church membership for being so graciously
patient. Second, thanks to the committee members for excellent, thoughtful work,
and third, thanks to our in-house photographers and certainly to Davis
Photography. Well done.
Now we know of a few
glitches which we are working to correct. Let us know if you see something that
needs to be changed.
We began organizing in
the summer of 2004. We agreed to begin photo sessions with our local David
Photography shop rather than outsourcing. Scheduled portraits started after
school began in the Fall. Since this is the church’s first, and the
photographer’s first, "Living Directory", meaning that it is both on computer
and on hard copy, we expected some delays. They were not too overwhelming and
our directories were available just after Christmas, with the first update in
the summer of 2005. There was no cost for the scheduled portrait session,
however, portraits could be purchased of desired. Reports are that Davis
Photography personnel treated all of us with respect and were very friendly with
no pressure to us to buy. Many of us did purchase our favorites, however.
The entire membership is
located on our web site as well as in the hard copy membership section. Since
the directory, without the notebook cover, costs $15.00 each ( cost to the
photographer), some hard decisions needed to be made about distributing this
glorious directory. The final decision was that all members who had a portrait
session would be entitled to the free directory, and folks not pictured would
not. Of course the computer is available to everyone and is to be updated
frequently. Those with special circumstances such as new members, returning
members, etc. will receive directories.
The committee and Rev.
Sharyl Peterson are very proud of our "Living Church Directory". We hope you
will enjoy using it.
