The Staff-Congregational Relations Committee, appointed by the Church Council, shall conduct regular performance reviews of all paid staff, making recommendations regarding staff salaries, maintaining good communications with staff and between staff and congregation, and promoting mutual accountability of staff and congregation for church life and health.

          The SCR Committee shall be responsible for filling paid staff positions.  In the case of Professional Staff (Ordained Clergy and licensed or commissioned ministers who are employed at least half-time by the church), consideration and responsibility for filling such positions will be shared with the Church Council through procedures set forth at the time Professional Staff are to be hired.

 The Staff Congregation Relations Committee works as a liaison between the staff and the congregation.  The church staff are the cogs that keep our congregation going.

This year the committee compiled a Personnel Manual.  The manual will be used instead of having each employee sign a yearly contract.  This manual does not pertain to contract workers or to professional staff.  These people will still have contracts.

This past year saw the church hire Dan Wilkie as our part time Assistant Minister, and our Senior Minister Sharyl Peterson went on sabbatical from January through June.  One of the priorities of the committee was to have an ordained minister for the church in Reverend Peterson’s absence.  With great assistance from her, we were able to acquire the services of our Sabbatical Interim Senior Minister, Rev. Gary Bryant.

Since this year’s moderator, Karen Caton, has taken a staff position as Choir Director with the church, she will not be able to continue on as the SCR Chair.  Patti Maurer will continue as chair through the next year.
