Annual Report of Endowment & Financial Advisory Committee
May 20, 2007
During the year the committee established the following five categories within
the General Endowment Fund, any one or more of which might be designated by a
contributor to benefit from a given contribution:
Christian Education
Community Service and Outreach
Wider Mission of the UCC
Capital Improvement
Annual Church Budget
Alternatively, a contribution might be "undesignated" in that no particular
category would be specified; in this case each of the five categories listed
above would receive 20% of the contribution.
During the year the committee worked to create a program named the Legacy Circle
under which members of the congregation may make a written commitment to provide
for a contribution to the church upon their death. The contribution itself
will be invested, and only the income from the investment will be use for church
purposes.
To introduce and explain this program a brochure and contribution form were
developed and printed. Copies of these items have been mailed to members
of the congregation, and additional copies are available in the church office.
Articles in the Tower Chimes and Moments for Legacy Circle are also planned to
further explain and publicize this program.
The committee continues to support the concept of planned giving with the
objective of continued growth in endowments to the church resulting in its long
term financial health.
