CHURCH-WIDE YARD SALE
June 6 -7, Fri-Sat, 8am - 3pm
Benefiting Latimer House and Child & Migrant Services (CMS)
Co-sponsored by Mission & Outreach and Growth Boards

What We Need
1) Items to sell. EVERYTHING is welcome except clothing items. Price your own items, then drop them off at the church (Pilgrim Hall north end) on Sunday mornings or during church office hours (M-F 9-1 and 2-4:30). Item pick-up can be arranged by calling the church office at 242 -0298.

2) Baked goods. We will also be selling baked goods during the yard sale – cookies, pies, cakes, bread, etc. So if you cook, bake or “just add water”, bring your items to the church Thur 1-4 pm, Fri 7-9am or Sat 7-9am. The proceeds of the baked goods will be used for the sound system.

3) Volunteers. We need volunteers to help organize and set-up on Wed and Thur, 1-4 pm, June 4-5. We also need volunteers to work during the garage sale on Fri and Sat, as well as to clean-up Sat from 3-4 pm. Sign-up sheets will be available after church on Sundays, or you can also call the church office at 242-0298 to sign-up.

Why We Are Doing This
As part the larger community of Grand Junction and Mesa County, First Congregational UCC members realize how important it is to give to local organizations that are doing phenomenal community work in our own back yard. This year the proceeds from the yard-sale will be going to support two such organizations:

1) Latimer House. The Latimer House provides counseling, advocacy and shelter for adults and children who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. In 2006, 126 women, six men and 99 children received shelter from the Latimer House. Latimer also operates a 24-hour hotline that fielded more than 2,400 calls in 2007.

2) Child and Migrant Services. CMS serves Mesa County agriculture by serving migrant and settled farm workers with compassion and respect—so that they may live and work with dignity in our community. CMS provides ESL classes, tutoring, translation services, transportation, social activities, child care and other services to migrants and farm workers.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact Julie Krueger at julielkrueger@msn.com or 245-5264. Thank you in advance for whatever support you can give to this worthwhile endeavor!
