Unsung Heroes

In the past two weeks, we have hosted two different families, as we’ve said good-bye to their loved ones. People who’ve attended those memorial services have commented on how helpful they are, and how much they appreciate our hospitality for both families and friends who are grieving.

But none of that would happen without the loving contributions and service of so many of our folks. Those who bring in cookies or sandwiches for refreshments or meals after the services. Those who prepare, arrange and serve that food with such hospitality. Our Bereavement Committee Co-Chairs, Carolyn Ramsey and Shirley Kodis, who coordinate the food needs, do the shopping, and make sure all the details are attended to. Those who volunteer to usher, kindly greeting people as they arrive. Those who volunteer to take care of the guest-book, or the flowers, or collect the extra bulletins so families can send them to other family members or relatives who weren’t able to come to the funeral. Our wonderful musician, Bob Boberg, who plays such beautiful and appropriate music for the services. Those who clean and prepare our building and worship spaces so they are inviting and beautiful. Our faithful secretary Michelle, who prepares the bulletins for these services, graciously integrating that into her regular workload. Helping families and friends through what is a very hard time is a lovely gift of pastoral care that we offer – and a ministry that we do very well in this church. Warmest thanks to everyone who help with this caring work.
