Tastes Great – and Does a World of Good!
Beginning in January, with the support and assistance of our Women’s
Fellowship, we will be offering you Equal Exchange (Fair Trade) coffee and
chocolate bars. By purchasing E.E. coffee (comes in both caff and decaf) or
chocolate bars (lots of yummy flavors), we help small-scale farmers in Latin
America, Africa, and Asia as they build a better future for themselves and
their families.
In the countries where
this coffee is produced, families have few options for earning a living, and
much coffee and cocoa is grown with child or slave labor. The E.E. program
was developed in 1986 to give farmers and their families hope and help in
concrete ways, by providing them a fair value for their product. Yes, it
costs a little more...but as someone put it when we were discussing this,
“sometimes it costs a little more to do the right thing!” Let us do the
right thing – and enjoy some incredibly good coffee and chocolate as we do
it – it’s a win-win for everyone!
Look for the Women’s
Fellowship Coffee Booth on the second Sunday of each month starting in
January during Coffee Hour in Pilgrim Hall.

this program at www.equalexchange.com)

New Pictorial Directory
Okay, just about
everybody in our church enjoys and uses our pictorial directory – it’s handy
for figuring out the name of that “really nice man” who talked to you during
Coffee Hour, or that “really nice woman” who greeted you as you came in the
sanctuary, or for looking up pictures of people you are praying for, or to
recruit people to help with a project, and lots more!
We usually have a new
directory made about every three years... and now is the time. It doesn’t
cost us anything as a church to do this, except the time and energy and
enthusiasm of a handful of volunteers. We can tell you exactly what needs to
be done – but we need you to be willing to do it!
So, if you’d be willing
to help with this short-term and very rewarding project, please let Pastor
Sharyl or Michelle (our church secretary) know ASAP. We truly cannot do this
without you!==============================
I am looking for flannel fabric scraps that can have
12-18 inch squares cut from them. Their color does not matter. Leave
donations in the office with my name on it or call me at 858-3035.
Thank you. Kay Ragsdale |

Prayers for Children and
Families
This will be our last formal month of prayers for Children and Families as
part of the UCC’s celebration of 50 years of ministry to children and
families. So in the spirit of celebration and love everyone is encouraged to
pray for the following:
November 4 – November 10 Pray that church leaders, parents and all
who care for children, will nurture children and families into being all
that God is calling them to be.
November 11 – November 17 Pray, that as the “Still Speaking Church”
we might lead the way and set the example of valuing and ministering with
and to all people – children and families – regardless of their age, their
family ties or the progress on their faith journey.
November 18 – November 24 Pray that the words of Jesus – “Let the
children come” – would not be encumbered by the doubts, fears and other
concerns of the disciples about who the families of those children may be.
November 25 – November 30 Pray that the church will work in
partnership with families to strengthen family relationships based upon the
Gospel, commitment, service, cooperation, tolerance and stability.
