Moderator's Modulations
The 2008-09 official year of our First Congregational Church started with
a whimper. Our All-Board meeting day was held on Father’s Day and
attendance was sparse. Not much official business happened, but enough of
us were there to hold a Council Meeting and find that all is generally
well.
My background is a business oriented world with emphasis on sales and
solid accounting. Our budget and fiscal well-being is paramount to me (
could be my tenure on Trustees influenced that attitude too ! ). Sales are
the foundation of any Insurance business so naturally I am a salesman with
some 35 years of Mesa County experiences. I want to use that knowledge to
work on our Church marketing efforts – the Mission and Membership
opportunities. We need a good membership to give a solid foundation to our
fiscal well-being and fellowship. We need Mission to follow Jesus’ example
and give to others who need our help. That will be my focus this coming
year.
I urge all our Board
members to mark July 20th, and Aug. 17th on your calendars. July 20th is
the next Board Meeting Sunday and it would be good to get Chairmen elected
and necessary business ratified. In August, we’ll be having a training
session for all with lunch--a longer day, but a good time for launching
the busy Church year. I’ll see you there.
Thanks to all who give
their time and efforts for the well-being of this unique Church community.
Thanks to all of you it’s working, the United CC way.
Respectfully yours, Brian,

CHURCH GROWTH BOARD...says,
Have you notice the new “Visitors” Signs in the parking
lot?
Please leave these spaces for our guests. THANKS!

KIDS' TIME
Would you be interested and willing to offer a
Kids’ Time (Children’s sermon) one Sunday (or more) this summer? If so,
please let Pastor Sharyl know what works with your schedule.

RESPITE NIGHT Friday July 11th 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM
Help us give Special Parents of Special Kids a Night Out!
Thanks so much for your dedication to this great local mission project. By
the way, in case you didn’t know, our very own Mission and Outreach Board
provides meals for each night, and we thank them for their generosity.
Please call Barb to sign up to volunteer - 243-4509.

Church Women United
Thanks
for all the toiletry items donated, and special thanks to Ellen Bradley
for a generous supply of new combs, and to Joan Rockingham for a supply of
towels.
We filled 150 Health Kits
for the Child & Migrant Services!
Our church will serve as
volunteer staff at the Thrift Shop in Palisade during the week of July 7th
to 11th, from 1:00 to 4PM. Please contact Jan Scheevel (242-6355) to sign
up.
And then save Saturday,
July 12th, to come celebrate at Grande River Vineyards and listen to the
Salsa Music of QUEMANDO. The evening will benefit the Child & Migrant
Services.
