TOWER CHIMES
Moderator’s Report
Well, by now hopefully you have heard about some of the changes we are
making around Council and Board meetings. We are trying a
Sunday-after-church format to make it easier for everyone involved to be
present at their respective meetings. The first attempt for this new
format was April 20th. It was well received by ALMOST everyone. We’ll try
it again in May to see if it really does make things easier. All of our
boards are working hard to make summertime plans and we are looking
forward to a wonderful season here at FCC.
I hope to see all of you at the Annual Meeting on May 25th for the
changing of the guard. We will have a nice meal, short meeting, and select
a new team to lead us thru the remainder of the year and into 2009.
See you then!
Randy Smith
TRUSTEES’ Report
Again
in April we did not have a quorum, but as usual we had several visitors.
We discussed wind damage to the swamp coolers, which we will address at
our Trustee’s work day May 1st.
The deteriorating state of the Sanctuary PA system was brought up again.
Annie Albrethsen and Anne Djokic have volunteered to raise money for PA
system improvements by selling “books” for a book-quilt. See either of
them for more details.
We have our fingers crossed that we can bring the irrigation system and
the swamp coolers on line this spring with a minimum of difficulty.

Christine Mok-Lamme, the director
of Child and Migrant Services in Palisade, will talk with us about the
services that this non-profit organization provides to settled and migrant
farm workers and their families in Mesa County. Donations of wash cloths,
small towels, toothbrushes, small sizes of shampoo, soap, toothpaste, etc.

Women United supply for the farm workers each year.
Equal Exchange Fairly Traded ground coffee, coffee beans, tea and
chocolate bars will be on sale in Pilgrim Hall following worship on
Sunday, May 11th.
The Women’s Fellowship Bargain Books Project will accept donations of
books of all kinds—fiction, nonfiction, paperbacks, hardbacks.
ROSE SUNDAY May 25th
This Sunday will be the day we use fresh flowers of all kinds from our
members’ gardens. We have plenty of vases at the church that can be used
to arrange your blooms, or, if you want the Altar Guild to arrange them,
bring them to the church kitchen by 9:30 AM that day .
Let’s share our wonderful flowers nd fill the Sanctuary! If you have
questions, call Janet Barnes (242-1728) or Carolyn Ramsey (245-6941).
Watch for Summer Fellowship Picnics
We will have the fist fun, simple picnic for everyone on Thursday June 5th
at 6:00 PM. The main meat course will be provided, so bring salad or
desert and table service for your family. If you have questions, cll
Carolyn Ramsey (245-6941) or Shirley Kodis (245-3884) |
