Souper Bowl of Caring
Sunday February 3rd
Since 1990, the Souper
Bowl of Caring has raised more than $33 million for individual
charities across the country. It is also turning our nation’s
biggest weekend of football into its largest weekend of giving. The
Sunday school children will be collecting donations again this year
for Homeward Bound of the Grand Valley homeless shelter so be sure
and bring a dollar to drop in the soup pot as you leave worship on
February 3rd.

Bill Murray is at his wry, wisecracking best
in this riotous romantic comedy about a weatherman caught in a personal

Punxsutawney, PA, to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities.
After a surprise blizzard traps him in small-town hell, things get even
worse: Phil wakes the next morning to find it’s GROUNDHOG DAY all over
again...and again...and again!
“A comic time warp anyone should be happy to get stuck in!” Come laugh
with friends and enjoy the a different kind of evening in our comfy
Mayflower lounge. And, Free Popcorn, too!

Adult Education Online
The UCC website, www.ucc.org, is a good
resource for online adult Christian education. Once you have accessed the
website, look for Church Stuff at the top of the page, click on it and
find Congregational Vitality and from there click on i.ucc. Explore the
i.ucc page and hopefully you will find many features that might appeal to
you, such as subscribing to Weekly Seeds, a weekly devotional delivered
via your email, Bible study, or online discussion groups. If you come
across something that you think would appeal to others, let the CE Board
know and we’ll advertise it in next month’s Tower Chimes.

FATDG
--A Friday
Afternoon Theological Discussion Group will be exploring Marcus
Borg’s classic Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time.
FATDG may be of interest
to individuals who are on a searching and questioning faith journey.
Marcus Borg, in his book, shares his experiences growing up in a
rather orthodox Christian congregation. He carefully outlines how
his questions about many of those teachings led him to write
Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time. The first meeting will
beFriday January 4th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM in the chapel at FCUCC.
