TRUSTEES’ Report
Chuck Burch
Maintenance Report: Chuck
reported that he’d had Peterson Plumbing repair a sink in the MDS
wing. The boiler malfunctioned again, and Chuck worked on it and is
working with Lunsford to permanently resolve the problem. Chuck and
others also repaired the leak in the dishwasher and other leaks
around that area of the kitchen. Chuck ordered a piano dolly using
the funds from the sale of Bob Boberg CDs.
Building Use Rates: The group reviewed the draft rental rates
for the building. A motion was passed to accept the new rental
rates. There was some discussion about the variables that might be
involved in determining which rate to charge, and it was agreed that
there is always room for negotiation.
Recycling: The old recycling service has been discontinued.
There is a service that will pick up a 34 gallon container of office
paper for $5, on an as-needed basis. It was decided to table the
issue for now and to try to get a better feel for how much office
paper we generate. Linda Randolph will take the lead on that
determination.
Meeting Night: Jim Lauer proposed changing the board meeting
night to the second Tuesday of the month to provide more time to
prepare the budget reports. The group agreed that this was fine, and
Chuck will relay that to Council.
Memorial Fund: David Hoefer proposed that memorial fund
interest be distributed to the undesignated memorial portion of the
fund rather than pro-rata to the designated and undesignated
portions. It was agreed to accept this proposal.
Trust Rationalization: A decision had been made to simplify
the trust lines and Chuck presented a proposal for doing that. There
was a general discussion about the issue and the need for some sort
of policy guiding the use of various types of gifts. The discussion
is tabled now with the acknowledgement that it is important and
sensitive.
Budget: Ninety pledge cards have come in. After the final
list is complete, we will have a list of those who haven’t turned in
pledge cards and will contact them with a reminder. After a
tentative final amount is known, Chuck will call another budget
meeting.

Moderators’ Note
Here it’s mid December and
CHRISTMAS is a mere 10 days off? It seems that I became Moderator
just yesterday, yet I’m half-way through my term. I hope that I have
done an acceptable job for the congregation to this point, and I
look forward to the balance of my term.
This is one of my favorite times of year, as it always
seems to bring out the best in people, but for all of us here at
FCUCC in Grand Junction I hope we strive to be our best every day of
the year.
I hope that this finds you all doing well and looking
forward to the celebration of Jesus’ birthday. This is a great time
to be part of a loving group such as ours, and to be part of the
community of Christ.
I wish you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to
seeing you at our January congregational meeting.
Blessings, Randy Smith |

This is a wonderful way to do daily devotions and to be reminded, in
the daily stories, of the many ways that our sister churches live
out God’s call in our world. |
