CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
Mary Wilkie is providing materials to make the children’s
learning about our faith both fun and substantive. Most Sundays the
children will join their parents in the sanctuary for the first part
of the worship service, and then go to their class following
Children’s Time. However, on the first (Communion) Sunday each
month, children will begin in class and later join the congregation
for Communion.

The
UCC -- Past, Present, and Future

Please join me at 8:30 AM Sunday mornings beginning September 23rd
for a class that will explore the UCC. We will start with the
origins of the UCC and look at some of the hidden history that has
made us the denomination we are. Then we will examine where the UCC
is today, and finally take a look at the future direction of our
denomination.
This class will be an
excellent opportunity for those new to the UCC to learn about our
unique denomination, and it will be a chance for long time members
who might want to become more familiar with the history and future
directions of the UCC to increase their knowledge.

SUNDAY MORNING LIVE
Do you sometimes feel unsure as to how to react to the news of our
world? No, this is not an antacid ad! Rather, this is an invitation
to participate in “Sunday Morning Live” each Sunday at 11:15 in the
Chapel, starting September 9th. The SML group will discuss current
events and issues, how our faith influences our perspective on these
issues, and how we as individuals and/or as a group might make a
difference.
For more information,
contact Chuck Holmgren (#245-5870). |

Christmas in
October?
We are always proud of the way our church looks at Christmas and
this year we would like to start planning decorations earlier. Can
you sew, do crafts or paint? How about climbing ladders, using a
glue gun, or toting boxes? Do you have any new ideas for our
sanctuary? Have you seen something beautiful at other churches?
Many of our faithful folks have
a great time getting ready for Christmas and are certainly willing
to keep doing it but we would like to share the fun! Perhaps some of
our newer members or others who don’t have regular responsibilities
in the church would enjoy helping. This is your invitation to bring
your enthusiasm to a planning meeting on Tuesday, October 9, at
10:00 AM in Mayflower room. If you can’t be there then, let Nancy
Hoefer know of your interest. Her phone is 241-3782 or E-mail at
drhoefer@aol.com. |
