Prayer Chain & Emergency Calling Tree
Our church believes in the power of prayer in relieving distress, offering comfort, and aiding in healing. So, we have a church Prayer Chain, made up of members who are willing to commit themselves to this ministry for at least one year.
The way our church Prayer Chain works is like this: Someone will usually call the church office (or Pastor Sharyl) and let us know of a prayer need. For example, someone may be in the hospital, or have lost a loved one, or is having some other kind of difficulty. Pastor Sharyl (or Michelle) then call the first two people on the Prayer Chain. They call the next person after themselves, those two people call the next person after themselves, etc. The goal of the Prayer Chain is to bring others’ needs before God in prayer, each prayer in her or his own way.
The Chain is made up of people willing to do two things. One is, when a member hears of a concern, he or she commits to praying for that person. The kind and frequency of prayer are up to the one who prays. There’s no right or wrong way to do it – only God is going to hear you. The second thing that members need to be willing to do is telephone one other person on the chain. There is an organized phone-list, and all you have to do is call the next person listed after your name.
This is a deeply important ministry in our church. And it is a ministry in which some of you who have other limitations on how you are able to serve can contribute to in important ways. If you are already on the Prayer Chain, and willing to continue to serve, you don’t have to do anything. If you wish to be removed from the list, please call Michelle and let her know. If you wish to become a member of the Chain please call and let us know that, too (242-0298). Once we have a finalized list of folks (probably by mid-December), we’ll organize the names and give each of you your calling assignment. If you don’t get to church regularly, you can still participate – just let us know and we’ll make sure you’re included on the chain of your choice, if you’re willing to pray and to call!

The DEADLINE for having articles and notices for the January 2008 Tower Chimes is being moved up to Saturday December 15th!

We will be putting out a somewhat abbreviated but special edition of the T.C.

Handwritten reports should be given to Michelle by Friday. Dec. 14th so she can transcribe them onto a disk for Jim. If you prefer to use email, be sure to email your contribution to Jim no later than midnight on Saturday December 15th.
But, in any case, please be BRIEF but to the point!

Special January 2008 Tower Chimes for Christmas-New Years

As part of the special edition, we’ll have a few Christmas trees that will be decorated with members’ and staff’s pictures worked into the decorations. It will be fun seeing how many faces you recognize!

If you can identify a certain number of the faces correctly maybe Santa will have a late New Years Eve gift for you.

If anyone is too shy to have his/her picture in the special edition, let Jim know in advance and he’ll respect your right to privacy!
