CHILDREN’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
Sunday School
Assistants
In order to ensure the
safety of our children and their teacher, Mary Wilkie and the CE
Board are seeking volunteers who would be willing to be the second
adult in the Sunday school class. There is no planning required.
Mary plans and teaches all the lessons.
This is not an every
Sunday job! The more volunteers we get, the fewer times you will be
asked to assist with the class. This is a wonderful opportunity for
adults in our congregation to spend some time with our children.
The sign-up sheet for Sunday school
assistants is located on the bulletin board outside Pastor Dan's
office. Sign up early and often! Thank you to everyone
who has already volunteered.

FATDG
--A Friday
Afternoon Theological Discussion Group will be exploring Marcus
Borg’s classic Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time.
FATDG may be of interest
to individuals who are on a searching and questioning faith journey.
Marcus Borg, in his book, shares his experiences growing up in a
rather orthodox Christian congregation. He carefully outlines how
his questions about many of those teachings led him to write
Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time. The first meeting will
beFriday January 4th from 1:30 to 3:30 PM in the chapel at FCUCC.

Thanks, from Your Church Growth
Board!...and Here’s to the Future!
Thanks so much for approving our budget in 2007. It was
a huge gift and we tried our best with what you gave us. We
advertised everywhere...newspapers, radio, Newcomers, “Things to
Do,” Yellow Pages, Avalon and our Post Card Campaign. Some things
were successful and we have found that many expensive things were
not, but we tried!
As a result of the “Paul Nickelson Seminar” in October
we will be making some changes. Paul’s words were very inspiring as
well as challenging. The seminar was sponsored by the Rocky Mountain
Conference, and about 10 to 12 of our congregation attended. We were
glad we did...and now find ourselves still very enthusiastic about
the future. We don’t need a basket-full of money. What we do need is
continued dedication, enthusiasm, and open hearts and minds. And, we
will need time.
A growing church cannot live in the past. We cannot do
things the way we have always done them. So, we will be changing.
The changes that we will ask for in the future will be different,
but these are being done because others have tried them and found
that they work. We don’t have to reinvent the wheel. So, we will not
be advertising everywhere as we have done in the past. We want you
to be kept informed.
Thanks again for your help and support. |
